Long-term Results of a Cardiology Postgraduate Program

In Brazil, a system was created on 1951 with the objectives of improving technology and innovation and strengthening scientific research.2,3 Similar to postgraduate doctorate programs in developed countries, postgraduate programs with broader and more in-depth scientific research objectives have been developed in Brazil.4 In fact, a linear relationship has been demonstrated between the number of students graduating from these programs and the number of scientific publications produced by them.5 Beyond scientific output, publishing a high-impact paper or in a journal with a high-impact factor seems to be an important requirement for innovation and technology growth. Considering that postgraduate students play an important role in scientific production in Brazil, a study including the characteristics of the scientific production of these students is justifiable.
